Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this paper is to present the statistical analysis of 922 cases of cleft lips who were
surgically treated by us during 7 years from August 1963 to November 1970, upon the basic study
for the sex difference, age, classification of the cleft lips and geographical incidence.
In the sex difference the male patients were almost twice as much as of the female. The ratio
of cleft lips to combined lip and palate to palate only was 1:0.4:1 and the ratio of left side cleft
to right side to bilateral was 3.8:2.1:1.
Out the 922 cleft lip deformity patients 836 had primary and 86(about 16.4%) had secondary
deformity such as marked scarring, whistling defect and naso-labial fistula sequential to the original
surgical procedures.
